Actually, I don’t see many apple trees here in Madrid. But my flatmate has been bringing home lots of apples from her pueblo in Segovia. Also walnuts! As you can see in the picture, these are not your perfect supermarket apples. But they’re great for making cake and applesauce! (Made with love by other flatmate, Rebe.)

About a month ago I collected endrinas (“sloes”? never heard of them before) in Navarra. They are used to flavor a traditional liqueur called patxaran. I’ve never tried it, but one of the fellow foragers promised to bring some to us this winter.
